Staycation #1

Our first "stay-cation" was to go camping with my dad on the Mckenzie River. Grace, Josh and my Dad went fishing (and caught a bunch!) While Gabe and I hiked around the beautiful Belknap Springs! We had the traditional fish fry, smores and spent lots of good time with Papa!
(Oh and one morning Gabe slept till 9:00!!!!!)
Even Gabe got to fish a little!
Papa fried up the whoppers Grace caught!!

Staycation #2

Our second "staycation" was going to Bend to visit my brother Garret who just got a job in Sisters. We had so much fun! We hung out in down town Bend, picnicked at Drake Park, ate dinner one of the Brewery's, hiked/ran to the top of Pilot Butte, hung out in Sisters, and checked out Gare's new work place! SO much fun!

Jesus and Spaghetti

So last week, at Dox Kids, I told the story of Jesus feeding 5,000. When I got to the part about having enough food, even having leftovers, I explained what leftovers were. I said "you know when your mom makes spaghetti for dinner, and she makes so much that you have to eat it again for lunch the next day? Those are leftovers"
Anyways, today Grace asked me if I was making enough cookies for 5,000 people. (I wasn't) and I asked her where she heard about 5,000 people. She said "the story about Jesus feeding them". To which I said "and what did you learn about Jesus from that story?" (correct answer - that Jesus will provide us all that we need.) Grace answer; "When you're hungry Jesus will feed you leftover spaghetti"

Wedding Job!

So I'm still catching up on the summer so far, blogging wise. This is a little documentation of my first ever wedding/baking gig! I baked 250 cupcakes for my good friends, sister in law's wedding. I started with scallopped fondant pieces......Lots of them
Her theme was monograms

This is 250 cupcakes baked, and ready to be frosted. Devils' food chocolate, and Chai Tea Latte.

And I just had to post this. This power of your hubby taking the kids for a whole afternoon. THIS is what my kitchen looked like after baking that many cupcakes. NOT typical!

Frosting. This day did not go as smooth, ganache is tricky! But we made it, I love my husband. I couldn't have done it without him!
The finished product! I love weddings! And Cake!!

A cold July day at the beach

So I am trying to catch up blogging. This post is from early July? We went to the beach with the Saemens- so fun. I don't know if any of you fellow bloggers are like me, but because of blogging whenever we go and do something fun, memorable, or spontaneous, or we have a special family event or moment- I think in blogging! I think in captions to my future post on that particular event or day! However- when I don't post for two or three months I tend to forget all those cute anecdotes that were once in my head! So for now just pictures! It was a cold July Day at the Oregon Coast!

Gabe's Birthday!

Blue berry muffins for Gabe's birthday Breakfast!

Good buds!

Wow, it's been a loooooong time! A combination of keeping busy with some spontaneous summer mini trips and not having a computer has kept me from blogging for a long time!
On Gabe's real birthday, we celebrated with a tradition we started last year. Gabe was born on my late great grandmas birhtday. She was very special, and we had decided last year that we (my family and extended family) would all have an ice cream bar, her most favorite of treats, in honor of her. Well, on June 30th of last year I called my grandparents and told them I had a better way to celebrate her birthday! By 11:39 that night we had Gabey!!! (AND I DID have my ice cream bar that morning on the way to the hospital!:) SO- long story short, on his real birthday Gabe had his first ice cream bar!
Well Gabe's birthday party was great. Unfourtunately he woke up in the middle of the night before his party with a fever and croup! I prayed all morning that he would miraculously get better, but he didn't . After warning all our guests with kiddos we decided to go on with his party. He wasn't
%100 himself, but he was able to have a little bit of fun.
He loved his cake, once he realized it was food :) loved playing with all his friends and family, and LOOOOVED all the fun trucks and blocks and clothes he opened as presents! Thanks friends and family for making his first birthday soooo special!
